AWA 2020 Hotel Booking Information

The Hotel Hunger Games, The Mad Scramble, The Stuff of our Social Media Person’s Nightmares – the annual opening of the hotel blocks is always an exciting time for both us and you, so we will continue to work to improve the process until we are able to get the maximum amount of happy people possible. We have thirteen local hotels offering special discounted rates for AWA attendees. Below you will find info on how to book with the host hotel the Renaissance Waverly, which will have a separate process, and the other 12 hotels which will be available via a single portal.

We know the world has changed pretty drastically in the last few weeks, and we all have questions about the future. Our crystal ball just keeps saying “ask again later” and we are pretty sure Zoltan hasn’t washed his hands in a while so we don’t have answers yet either. We are hoping everyone will do their part to stomp the curve and help make it safe for us to gather in October.

We are still planning for AWA (and now we have a little extra time to put together some REALLY cool plans) to happen over Halloween weekend.

That said, we did plan to have hotel blocks open in April, but with many hotels doing their part to help by closing and sending staff home, we have to move the opening of the hotel blocks to June. If you received a notification via email, fb messenger, or in the AWA groups, you will receive an update via the same channel (in addition to the posts on FB/Twitter/IG) when we know what the new dates are. We would also like to add that in the event we have to cancel or postpone due to COVID-19, all no-refund policies for hotel deposits will be waived.

We’ll get through this together. Keep your chin up, make time for self care, reach out to your friends and don’t feel bad about chopping down trees in Animal Crossing for those sweet sweet crafting materials and bells.

Booking with the Renaissance Waverly

Once again reservations for the Renaissance Waverly Hotel will open separate from the rest of the blocks. Luckily the Renaissance will no longer be using Passkey (woot!) so they will have a new booking portal. In addition to this, we will be releasing the rooms on THREE separate days so that even if you are unable to be on your computer for the first day, you won’t have to give up hope to stay in the host hotel. Of course, we aren’t yet able to bend space-time, so rooms at the waverly are still limited, so have a backup hotel in mind. The Renaissance will not be allowing single night stays.

We will be sending and posting reminders of the terms of each of these blocks before the opening date, but we highly recommend adding this info to your calendar now!

For those of you who are 10000% certain you will be attending AWA all 4 days. These first 100 rooms will require full payment at reservation and for you to check-in Thursday and check-out Monday. No refunds will be available on these reservations (unless the convention must be cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19). Please ensure your credit card information is correct – if it’s declined and you are unresponsive, your room will be released back into the wild! Charges may take up to 72 hours to appear from the time of booking.

This block is available for those planning on staying Thursday – Sunday or Friday – Monday. No deposit is required at the time of booking – the full stay will be charged to your card 45 days before the convention. You will be able to cancel up until this time with no penalty. Charges may take up to 72 hours after September 14 to appear on your statement.

The remaining rooms in the Renaissance Waverly will be available on (TBA) You will be able to book a 2 day, 3 day, or 4 night stay for rooms released at this time. No deposit is required at the time of booking – the full stay will be charged to your card 45 days before the convention. You will be able to cancel up until this time with no penalty. Charges may take up to 72 hours after September 14 to appear on your statement.

Booking with other AWA Group Hotels

On this date, you will also be able to book with the 12 other hotels offering special rates for AWA attendees starting at (time TBA). Connections Housing has once again made a portal to make booking your perfect hotel possible with just a couple clicks. You will be able to enter your preferred dates and number of guests and will be shown all available reservations you can choose from.
